Where to stay in Hunza

Karimabad

The historic heart of the valley, below Baltit Fort, with Altit Fort a short walk away. Walkable, with views across to Rakaposhi.

Aliabad

On the highway itself: a practical base with more places to stay, restaurants and shops.

Gulmit and Passu

Upper Hunza, past Attabad Lake — quieter, with the Passu Cones and the Hussaini suspension bridge nearby.

When to go

April to October. Spring brings apricot and cherry blossom, summer is the busiest season, and late October to early November turns the poplars gold. Winter is cold, and some guest houses close until spring.

Types of stay

Family-run guest houses are the backbone of Hunza, alongside boutique hotels with valley views and lakeside cottages around Attabad.

Getting there
